The design of this downtown Calgary restaurant evokes the Art Deco style of the restaurant’s namesake - Boston’s Parkerhouse Hotel. The restaurant includes a main dining room, bar, and mezzanine level with a second dining area. The restaurant is accessed through a street front entrance, and is housed in a downtown Calgary heritage building dating from 1913.
Art Deco is known for exotic woods and metals, along with stepped forms, linear banding, and extravagant patterns and motifs. Our design does not simply mimic Art Deco, but instead draws select elements into a simplified, contemporary expression. The client was satisfied in the unique and inviting atmosphere created with a warm palette, banded wood details, custom blown glass chandeliers, and elegant tiling.
