Mount Royal Village West is a new development directly west of the existing Mount Royal Village, at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 8th Street SW. MRV West is pursuing LEED Silver certification.
This three-storey mixed-use project respects the existing gradient of uses along 16th Avenue between 8th and 9th Street SW, leading from commercial uses at 8th Street westward to high-density residential and a city parkette at 9th Street. As part of our design, we are relocating this parkette from the middle of the block to the more usable west edge.
- The 9,171 sq. m. project will include a supermarket, an urban Canadian Tire store, and a mix of retail units and office space.
- Limestone and brick masonry combine with metal and glasswork in a design that considers the built context without replicating it.
- Transparent facades along 8th Street and 16th Avenue show internal pedestrian circulation creating a visual relationship between the public realm and proposed uses. At grade, the 16th Avenue facade is visually and physically permeable via a repeating pattern of transparent overhead doors and butt glazing , enhancing the pedestrian nature of the street.
