The Country Hills Crematorium is now open in Calgary’s Northeast. This simple, elegant building is intended to serve Calgary’s East Indian and South Asian communities.
The Crematorium includes two retort rooms, each with windows into two large, subdividable memorial/service rooms. The crematorium also includes a number of specialized rooms and features related to the building’s functions.
Finishes are bright and clean with dark wood accents; a waterfall feature wall is designed with dark stone veneer. The large entrance canopy leads into a naturally-lit lobby below a large skylight, creating a graceful and understated interior suited to the building program.
Abugov Kaspar provided architectural, interior, and mechanical design services; we worked closely with Dawson Wallace on this project.
