Abugov Kaspar’s Bow View Manor addition was recently completed in Calgary’s Bowness neighborhood.
The upgrade to this Calgary assisted living facility comprised a new 5 storey non-combustible addition complete with underground parking. Abugov Kaspar provided architectural and interior design services for the new wing.
The Bow View Manor addition provides 39 designated assisted living units and 47 long term care units.
The addition also includes administrative spaces, dining and event rooms, lounge areas, and TV rooms designed for comfort with fireplaces and dementia-safe walkouts overlooking the river.
Making the Most of the Site
The original Bow View Manor has been around for decades, nestled in a quite pocket away from the busy main roads cutting through this northwest Calgary neighborhood. The existing building of 2 storeys sits in an idyllic setting next to the Bow River; given the height of the original building, the design never quite took full advantage of the spectacular views.
With the Bow River immediately next to the site, and with Riley Park and the Paskapoo slopes providing a stunning backdrop, the project was a great opportunity for our design team to leverage the site’s full potential.
As a result, the Bow View Manor addition rises to a full 5 storeys designed to maximize south-facing views for residents.
A Seamless Interior Design
The rationale for the interior design was guided by the owner’s desire to achieve a seamless design that would unify the existing and new components of the development. As a result, our interior team used oak and other finishes that would deliver a clean, bright update to complement the existing facility’s character.
While the addition is complete, the overall facility is still undergoing a transformation. Abugov Kaspar is now providing interior design services for an upgrade of the existing facility.
